As an extradition lawyer in Italy, Guido Stampanoni Bassi has developed extensive expertise in extradition proceedings and European Arrest Warrant (EAW) cases before Italian courts, representing clients in requests originating from several countries across Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the Americas.

His extradition practice covers both inbound requests — where a foreign state seeks the surrender of a person present in Italy — and outbound proceedings involving Italian judicial authorities. He advises individuals, foreign law firms and institutions on all aspects of Italian extradition law and EAW procedure.

He is the founder and director of Extradition Hub, the first international database of extradition and EAW case law, designed to support clients, foreign counsel and institutions navigating extradition proceedings worldwide.

Criminal and extradition lawyer at the Milan Bar, Guido Stampanoni Bassi is founder, editor and director of the leading Italian criminal law review Giurisprudenza Penale. Partner at Pistochini Avvocati Law Firm, he is a member of the Criminal Justice Commission of the Milan Bar Association and of the Constitutional Court Commission of the Italian Union of Criminal Lawyers (since 2018).

Admitted to the Milan Bar Association, the Milan Criminal Bar Association, and the European Criminal Bar Association (E.C.B.A.), he is regularly invited to speak at conferences and seminars on criminal law, extradition proceedings and international criminal cooperation in Italy and abroad.

He regularly advises foreign counsel on the Italian extradition system and acts as defence lawyer in complex cross-border criminal cases.

He writes and edits books with the main Italian legal publishers (Wolters Kluwer, Zanichelli, Giappichelli, Giuffrè, Pacini) — including a leading volume on European Arrest Warrant and extradition procedures — and is author of several academic publications in top-ranked (“band A”) scientific journals on criminal law and corporate criminal liability.

As director of Giurisprudenza Penale, he has organised events under the patronage of the Senate of the Republic, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the National Anti-Corruption Authority (ANAC). He regularly writes as a columnist on topical justice issues — including extradition and international criminal law — for leading Italian journals, newspapers and media.
